Energy Series

The five large monochrome abstract canvases from the Energy series are inspired by the five elements of energy from the Indian ancient philosophy. Painted in 2013 - the strong colors of Vityk's monochromes visualize energy of space (black), energy of transformation (red), energy of water and air (blue), energy of sun (yellow) and energy of growth (green) - the basis for our whole universe, from animate to inanimate, from particle to atom. Energy is the ability to do work, to create and to live, and "color is energy made visible". The main goal of the project is to promote renewable energies and reduction of carbon emissions. The project Energy has been designed for Shell and is currently on permanent display at Shell headquarters in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Black Energy, 2013, enamel on canvas, 300x200cm (118x78in). This painting symbolizes the energy of Space where everything exists and interacts. Black energy is mysterious and infinite and we don’t know much about it. Equally, black is the most mysterious of colors and signifies power and sophistication.

Red Energy, 2013, enamel on canvas, 300x200cm (118x78in). Reflecting the energy of Transformation, this painting is radiates warmth and light. In ancient Indian philosophy, red is the color of the Fire element - victory, excitement and passion. In energy, this Fire element is represented by electricity and fire. Geologists use red to indicate oil or gas.

Blue Energy, 2013, enamel on canvas, 300x200cm (118x78in). The energy of Water and Air is reflected in the blues of this work: from sky to aqua to ocean and the deep indigo of the crown chakra. Blue can represent a variety of things, much like the elements of Water and Air: liquid or dry, heavy or light. Blue is associated with renewable energy (water and wind), clear skies and healing waters.

Yellow Energy, 2013, enamel on canvas, 300x200cm (118x78in). The yellow energy painting represents the Energy of the Sun. Throughout history mankind has harnessed solar energy using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Yellow is ultimately the expression of the powerful energy that brings light and life to all beings.

Green Energy, 2013, enamel on canvas, 300x200cm (118x78in). The Green Energy painting represents the Energy of Growth. Green contains the powerful energies of nature, growth, desire to expand or increase. In Chinese phylosophy, green is associated with Wood energy element - the energy of rising, expanding, and is the force of growth and flexibility. Wood is the most human of the elements. It is the element of spring. Today, green is associated with renewable bio-energy.
