November 29 - December 30, 2015, Cairo, Egypt
Originally inspired by the revolutionary Maidan in Ukraine, this Project is dedicated to civil resistance for dignity, freedom and change everywhere. The Project includes twelve 300x200 cm canvases depicting mystical Warriors of Light - a symbol of the battle between light and darkness, good and evil - an internal battle that happens in the heart and mind every human being. At SomethingElse we present five paintings from the series. The entire project of twelve canvases will be exhibited by one of the Cairo galleries in 2016.
'Every Warrior of Light has at some point lost faith in the future. Every Warrior of Light has once trodden a path that was not theirs. Every Warrior of Light has once felt that they were not a Warrior of Light. Every Warrior of Light has at one time failed in their spiritual obligations- but that is what makes them Warriors of Light- because they have has been through all that and have not lost the hope of overcoming all odds, all setbacks- that is why they are Warriors of Light- because they do not surrender- because they dream of a better future, a better life- because they seek a reason – and they certainly found one.' (adapted from Paulo Coelho’s book “Manual of the Warriors of Light”)."
